Preview branches

A full copy of your backend for every pull request.

How branches work

Each pull request gets its own environment with the branch’s schema applied, seed data loaded and functions deployed. It’s deleted when the PR closes.

Setting up CI

1

Connect the repository

In Project settings → Git, connect GitHub or GitLab.

2

Add the action

Add the Tessera action to your workflow so every push updates the branch.

.github/workflows/preview.yml
- uses: tessera/preview-action@v2  with:    project: prj_8f2k1    token: ${{ secrets.TESSERA_TOKEN }}

3

Use the branch URL

The action outputs api_url. Pass it to your frontend preview deployment.

Data

Branches start from seed data, never production data.
